Every community that survives exile and displacement carries an invisible, unbreakable thread of memory. The Armenian ethos is a profound example of this resilience — a culture with thousands of years of history, ancient sacred traditions, distinct architecture, and an enduring spirit of hospitality and unity.
As part of our ongoing initiative Assembly of Little Nations, the Representative Assembly (BRA) Working Group expands its ethnographic field research. Every Wednesday, we head to Little Armenia in Los Angeles to document the living culture, oral histories, traditional crafts, and unique community ecosystem of one of the city’s most vibrant cultural enclaves

Little Armenia in Los Angeles is more than a geographic neighborhood — it is a living bridge between ancestral lands and modern diaspora life. During our Wednesday field expeditions, we explore the deep layers of Armenian heritage:
- Oral Histories & Diaspora Memory: Recording authentic stories of migration, cultural preservation, and civic self-organization from community elders, artisans, and cultural leaders.
- Sacred & Material Culture: Capturing the symbolism of traditional Armenian crafts, unique khachkar-inspired stone artistry, culinary heritage, and musical traditions.
- Civic & Economic Resilience: Studying how decentralized diaspora networks build lasting institutions, mutual aid, and cultural continuity across generations.
