Thursday Field Research & Diaspora Memory Mapping
As part of our broader initiative Assembly of Little Nations, the Belarusian Representative Assembly (BRA) Working Group launches a recurring cultural and ethnographic field study: the Little Saigon Expedition, taking place every Thursday.
Little Saigon represents one of the most vibrant, resilient, and historically dense diaspora enclaves in the world. Formed by generations of refugees, community builders, and culture carriers, it stands as a living testament to how sovereign identity, language, and collective memory can be preserved far from one’s native land.
📌 Objectives of the Thursday Expeditions
- Documenting Oral Histories: Recording first-hand accounts of migration, community building, and cultural continuity from local elders, artisans, and business owners.
- Visual & Material Culture: Capturing the architecture, streetscapes, traditional herbalism, gastronomy, and sacred spaces that define the enclave’s unique identity.
- Comparative Diaspora Studies: Examining how micro-nations and displaced communities construct civic resilience, economic solidarity, and mutual aid networks in exile.

Every Thursday expedition generates raw field notes, high-definition photo essays, and video interviews. Highlights from our weekly visits to Little Saigon will be released across our verified social channels and systematically ingested into our working group repositories.
